Welcome

The Collection of Evidence (COE) is a state approved alternative assessment.

The COE is an evaluation of a set of work samples based on classroom work prepared by the student with instructional support from a teacher. It leads to a Certificate of Academic Achievement and is one of three alternative assessments available to Washington State high school students. Students must meet eligibility criteria to access the COE.

Starting in 2012-2013 students may submit a COE in Reading, Writing, and/or Mathematics. They may only submit one collection per content area during their high school education. Eligibility to submit a COE requires a student to have taken the High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE) in reading and/or writing or End of Course (EOC) in mathematics two times without meeting standard; with one of the HSPE/EOC attempts being at least one year prior to submitting a COE.
